We are an old-school law firm that allows time and attention for every client. On large or complex matters, our professional staff teams up with a wide range of experienced legal colleagues and subject matter experts to ensure complete and careful consideration of legal, business and economic issues. Although we use all of the latest technologies to research issues and advocate for clients, the heart of our law practice is understanding the needs and motivations of clients, helping to maintain their good relationships with colleagues and communities, and providing the very best legal counsel and service to help them grow their businesses, resolve disputes, work with bureaucracy, protect their interests, and cultivate opportunities. Our clients include old time businesses and startups, contractors and entrepreneurs, property owners and people injured by the negligence of others. This general law practice provides a scope of legal challenges that is always interesting, and always provides the opportunity to be of service – which is our operating principle.
Our office is located in Santa Rosa, about 50 miles north of San Francisco, although clients come from all Bay Area counties. We have appeared in the courts of every Bay Area county. The practice includes both transactional work and litigation. In other words, we help clients make business contracts (real estate, construction leases, formation of partnerships, corporations, limited liability companies) and, when necessary, we get business contracts enforced through mediation, arbitration, or lawsuit. We also draft wills and trusts, and handle personal injury lawsuits.
About Tim Hannan
After attending a Jesuit seminary for high school, Tim graduated from the University of San Francisco with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Political Science. He graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. with a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree. Tim was active duty in the U.S. Coast Guard, and in the Reserves for many years, honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Commander. He has been practicing law in California for over thirty-five years, and has a “Distinguished Lawyer” rating from peers in Martindale Hubbell. He is an experienced mediator and arbitrator.
Tim lives in the Valley of the Moon with his family. In his spare time, he likes to read short stories, poetry and history books; talk about and be involved in libertarian politics and civic organizations, such as the Sonoma County Taxpayers Association; attend live theater; and play hardball in a men’s senior baseball league. About Jessica Thompson
Jessica joined The Law Office of Timothy Hannan as a Legal Assistant in May, 2012. She supports the practice in the areas of contract law, real estate law, construction law, and business formations. Jessica began her paralegal career in 2000, working for an intellectual property law practice.
She earned a Paralegal Certificate from Sonoma State University, and was a Communications Major at San Diego State University.
